We are now accepting financial aid applications for the 2018-19 academic year in Populi! Below we’ve listed the steps to request a federal student loan. Requesting a federal loan is optional. Before requesting a federal loan, please review the eligibility requirements and disbursement dates. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out or review these instructions.
If you are planning to pay for tuition with a student loan, you have two loan options: federal and private. Please review this information to learn about the differences between the two options. Both loans are administered through Westminster, but federal loans should be requested through the seminary. The information below is how to request a federal loan only.
How to request a federal loan in Populi
On your homepage, you will see an alert like the one shown below. Click the alert to go to your 2018-2019 aid application.
When you click this alert, you will be directed to your “Financial Aid” tab where you can review the Cost of Attendance (learn more about “Cost of Attendance”) for your program and a link to the loan request form, and checklist “components” required for completing your aid application. All components needed for your application must be received in order to be considered for a federal loan.
After submitting the loan request form, you will need to submit your 2018-19 FAFSA, 2016 tax return transcript, Entrance Counseling, and an online Master Promissory Note (MPN). If you have completed counseling and an MPN in prior years, you may not be required to complete it each year. This will be noted on your Populi account. The deadline to request a loan is 2 weeks before the start of each term.
You may upload required component documents (ie: tax return transcripts) using the “add files” button on the right, as seen below.
Once you have completed the components on your checklist, all items will appear as green checkmarks, and our office will review your federal loan request. Please note that no unfinished application will be reviewed. We will be in contact once we have processed your request.
